LSI Philosophy

It our belief that we have a responsibility to do more than just condition an athlete through the process of natural evolution from a previous stage to the next. We have a responsibility to plan, construct, manage, design, use and create techniques and methods to engineer their quality by adding the practical application and knowledge of science to pure physics and reaching practical ends.

Within various limitations LSI is a training program design to address and implement the basic physiological and biomechanical necessities which are required in the sport of track and field. We attempt to address the more specific and individual needs of our athletes as they mature and progress.

We emphasize speed, particulary High-speed movement as the quintessential exercise. It is the backbone of our program in all phases of training because it is the most important factor for predicting success. Other things like weight training and plyometrics are supplementary but just as important. We use them to make up for defiencies, eliminating any unecessary movement and strengthing the whole.

Practice makes permanent and Neuromuscular coordination is very specific to the speed of movement. So we train at event speeds to properly stimulate intense neuromusclar movement.

We obey one simple principle ..... the body will restructure, reorganize and readapt to what it does most often.... this is our way.

It is not about the short-term or seasonal success of an individual or team. But its for the longterm success and development of its athletes for which we have found the maturity to set our feet on this path ..... It is here we have the greatest potential for success and it should not be the conquest of a single team, but the liberation of it's Peers that defines us in this sport.

Alexander Hill (Head Coach)

We are LSI, a Culture, a Movement and Learning Speed Intelligently is our motivation.
