Cydney Leath "CCS Finals Debut!"
Ranked CCS #1 TJ - 38'01"

Every year at the CCS Championships, the top freshman athletes get a chance to take on the top CCS veterans, as it sets up a nice clash of young and younger talent. This Friday evening at the CCS Finals in Gilroy will represents the best of this action And although the Sprints usually gets all the glamour the field events have brewed up some interesting performances. One of the most intriguing developments over the past few weeks is the varsity Girls Triple Jump.

Now that Vasthi Thomas is gone after almost dominating the event for the past 3 years, another fresh young talent just may emerge as the one to watch over the next three. Mt Pleasant High School will have a big talent on their hands by the name of Cydney Leath.

The LSI Veteran is perhaps the most notable of the newcomers this season. Cydney surprised the track community this season when she leaped to an outstandning 38 foot Triple Jump. Her marked performance was impressive enough to rank #1 in the CCS and the leading freshman in the state of California and although others will be taking their shot at improving their seasonal bests, Cydney seems to be the clear favorite for the CCS title.

It remains to be seen who out of the top finishers will actually travel to Fresno for the California State Championships, but regardless, the freshman sensation will get a chance to prove herself against notable veteran competition. If she can carry that momentum into the 2009 CCS Division Finals this friday, she could travel to State and finish very high up in the Medal Rankings.

Cydney will be in the drivers seat to make her case as the most talented female freshman this season and LSI will be there to cheer her own.

So to our Smiley... Good Luck from your Family at LSI
