TRIFECTA!

San Jose - LSI's Standout Katie Nelms takes home three victories at the BVAL Division championships. The Junior from Leland High School leads the Central Coast Section in four events: #1 100 (11.85), #1 400 (56.67), #1 300H (42.65), #1 100H (14.09) and #2 200 (24.71).

In the 100 Hurdle Katie cross the line in 14.09. Running a conservative race upfront Katie was pressured by Mariah Rogers of Prospect. With the also junior on her heels katie shift gears half way through the race to pull the lead for the win.

Katie would later return for the 100 meter finals in another match-up with Rogers. Looking to settle a score rogers got out quick.. But it was Katie showing veteran poise to take control of the race for her second win of the day.

Katie would again return just 30 minute later for the 300 meter hurdles. Last years CCS Champion in the event and current CCS leader, Katie is ranked 4th in the state and one of the top hurdlers in the country. She would cruise to a finish in a time of 43.6 to win her third event of the evening.

And if that's not enough! Katie would later return to Lead the Chargers to Victory in the Girls 4x400 relay. With a split of a 56.93 Katie would run anchor leg for the Chargers and cross the tape to a Chargers 4:04 victory.

Is Katie one of the greatest CCS female athletes of all-time? If she can pick up 3 CCS titles to lead leland to its first CCS Division title, it would be a hard point to argue!
