On the Road to Redemption
LSI's Isabelle Connell at SFSU - 880 Meters in 2:24.50
SAN FRANCISCO - Its a been a quiet month of distance running around the Association with many of the higher profile association meets still on the calendar. A few teams ran their standout athletes, while many other are gearing up for the invitationals in the coming weeks.

The biggest clash of talent will most likely come from the Youth Girls 800 meter Group. With talent that saw Nijae Jones (formerly of 3M) run a personal best of 2:17.43 at the 2008 Junior Olympics and Isabelle Connell (currently of LSI) run 2:24.19 at the AAU National Championships, along with a host of newcomers. While Sprints and Hurdles has captured most of the headlines, the girl's 800m race is sure to have its own highlights.

On her College Conference Tour Isabelle made a pit-stop at San Francisco State University to attend the Annual Johnny Mathis Invitational. A newcomer to LSI but no stranger to Track and Field Isabelle has set her goals high this season. With a New Team, a new coach and a new spirit she hopes to raise the bar for what looks to be an exciting season.

Johnny Mathis Invitational - Lining up for a quick two-times around the track and the only age-grouper in the event. From the gun isabelle took off to really setting a torrid pace for the First 400m with the pack going through in 66.27 and although the early pace would take its toll on the LSI newcomer over the final 200 meters of the race as she exchanged the lead with SFSU's Nicole Bowler. Isabelle would finally settle for 10th in a field of 18 competitiors with a seasons best of 2:24.50.
