LSI student-athlete Katie Nelms is recognized for her outstanding academic record. An Honor Roll Student with a 4.2 GPA, Katie is an 11th Grader at Leland High School. When she's not on the track she likes to spend her time hanging with her friends.
she was the lone Intermediate Girl to represent LSI through the 2008 season. In her second year as a Intermediate Katie Qualified for the Youth Nationals in the 100, 200, 100H and 400H. Making the finals in all events Katie would compete to a personal best of 12.02 at 100M, 24.47 at 200M, 14.30 in the 100H and 61.59 in the 400H. With a time of 61.59 Katie would become the 2008 Youth National Champion in the 400H.
Katie is actively involved in her community through sports which has been a constent contributor to her development. Her goal is make it on the Youth World Team (Italy) to represent the United States in the sport of Track & Field.
