LSI Begins Action at the Skyline Invitational
OAKLAND - The LSI track and field team battled through the wind and cold to kick off the 2008 outdoor season Saturday (Mar. 01) at the Skyline High School Invitational held in Oakland, California. The Athletes received a warm welcome as they would be the only middle school athletes competiting in the meet along with Amira Godfrey-Woods of E.O.Y.D.C .

Among the LSI student-athletes who competed were Gianna Hatchett in the women's 100m, 200m. Cydney Leath in the women's 100m, 200m and Alexandra Diaz also in the women's 100m and 200m sprint.

"I thought our efforts were good despite the weather conditions of strong headwinds and cold," said LSI Head Coach Alexander Hill. "Overall, I think we competed and we needed to get this one out of the way. We used it kind of like a scrimmage. We just needed to get in and compete against ourselves and against some other competition. Anything following this will be a progression for us.

This gave an opportunity for one of our new athletes to represent and she stepped up and did a good job and I thought they performed really well, ofcourse you can't tell by the times due to the conditions, but I was pleased. As always its about development and just continuing to have a healthy respect the sport and where it takes us"

It promises to be another exciting year on the track for LSI and and it appears we can get our first glimpse of the new and returning LSI athletes at The Pheonix Invitational on April 5 in Phoenix Arizona.

Last year's Invitational produced more than 100 USATF Teams and featured several of the nation's top age group and high school teams. Among the scheduled participants for that meet will be 3MTC, Hilltop Speed, LA Jets, Quiet Fire, Texas Shooting Stars, Colorado Flyers, Seattle Speed, Vegas Lighting, Arizona Elite and many...many...more

In addition to the introduction of the 2008 track and Field and the upcoming Olympics in Beijing, LSI will Celebrate the History and Heritage of the Olympics and Track and Field with Red, White and Blue commemorative Uniforms.

We are LSI, a Culture, a Movement and Learning Speed Intelligently is our motivation.
