FLAGSTAFF, AZ - The Junior Olympic Indoor Championships has hosts some of the biggest performances of the Youth indoor season and this year certainly was no exception! The LSI camp got off to a great start and prove to be in good shape coming into this season.
One name that hasn't been heard from in a while is Giovanna Raffin. After missing part of last season the LSI Midget was working on getting some speed into her early season preparation as she entered the 200 meters. with a heart as big as Texas and her willing to run the tight curve gio was out to quickly close the gap on her competitiors. Hitting her stride in the last 30 meters Giovanna cross the line in a time of 29.83. A great opener to the 2009 season. She would later compete at 400 meters where she was the Pre-race favorite. Showing early season shape Gio ran all the way to the line in 1:06.97 to take the Silver Medal. "I should have done better" she would later say, but what a fine performance turned in this early in the season.
