Awarded by the City of San Jose

The presentation was made by Chuck Reed, the Honorable Mayor of the City of San José, at the City Council Chambers in City Hall. The award is given by the City of San Jose (Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services) to individuals who demonstrate excellence in Sports and Recreation.

Alexandra Diaz a member of LSI Sprint, along with Isabelle Connell of San Jose were recognized for their outstanding performance at the Hershey National Championship held in Pennsylvania. In August of 2007, in her first solo appearance Alexandra competed and won the Girls, age 11-12 200 meter dash, earning her a Gold Medal and the Hershey's North American Championship Title.

The commendation is an endorsement of how Citywide Sports and the City of San Jose works to support young people in Youth Sports and reflects a model which ensures the life of its Youth programs.
